Tracy and I left Norco at 8am on Friday February 26. We arrived at Slash X at 10am and offloaded the Jeep. We spent the next 5 hours driving to all 26 new "Pirate" geocaches and checking coordinates and filling the geocaches with pirate swag. The weather was fabulous. Tracy made shrimp alfredo for dinner. After dinner we sat around the campfire. the4dirtydogs (Freddy, Heather, Gavin & Skylar) arrived at 9pm, set up camp and joined us around the campfire. karstic arrived around 10pm.

Camp

Saturday morning around 6am a light rain started to fall. It rained for an hour and then blue skies showed up. Around 8am it started clouding up again and by the 9am start it was raining pretty hard. Everyone got started despite the rain and once again it cleared up. The weather repeated the pattern all day.

At 4pm everyone gathered inside Slash X for dinner and awards.

Most FTFs was karstic with 8

kdd0422 found all 26 geocaches
scorpio13 found all 26 geocaches
winnie69 found all 26 geocaches
karstic found all 26 geocaches
the4dirtydogs found all 26 geocaches

Gavin of the4dirtydogs had the best boy pirate costume
Skylar of the4dirtydogs had the best girl pirate costume
Dino had the best pirate costume
Jackie had the best wench costume
the4dirtydogs had the best decorated pirate vehicle

We presented Brian Lynn, the owner of Slash X, a plaque for allowing us to camp on his property and allowing us to host our event in the Slash X Cafe.

On Sunday morning Stephan, Sonia, Dino, Jackie, Collette and myself headed out to explore the Ord Mountains. The weather was fantastic. I really enjoyed the day in the Ords. It is high on my list to visit again.

Back at camp at Slash X at 2pm for lunch. On the road for home at 3pm. Home at 5pm.

A huge thanks to Dino, Chris MIB and Tracy for all their help in setting up the event.

Another great weekend in the desert. More pics to follow tomorrow.

Whoa...Doug managed to appear in the group picture. Shocked

Send me a full size copy of that group pic and I'll do my magic and add it to the group pic rotation.

That's Sleuther from Sacramento on her right. He came down with the norcal GBA caravan. And that's DuckeyLee to her left front, another GBAer.

Even after the Jeep was power-washed we found this:

This much mud will put your wheels out of balance, just sayin'.... Jeep3

Drive.
Just discovered it has a sidewall puncture, so I guess the mud issue is moot... Confused

Desert Tortoise Friday. It was a good thing Tracy saw this guy as he was directly in the path of the Black Pearl.
